Sheridan Smith to Tell ‘Sleep Stories’ for Now Streaming Service
Award-winning actress Sheridan Smith will tell a series of “sleep stories” for the streaming service Now.
The approximately 15-minute stories are inspired by TV hits such as Game Of Thrones and Riviera and are designed to help listeners fall asleep, according to Now.
The service, which has partnered with The Sleep Charity, said research suggested people were having trouble sleeping because of issues related to the pandemic.
Smith, whose television roles include Mrs Biggs, Cilla and The C Word, said: “I know it’s been a tough year and the last thing we need is a bad night’s sleep.
“I look forward to being the voice that calms you in Dreamland – I am truly honored to join you all in your rooms. Hope you enjoy these enigmatic stories.
All five stories include A Walk Beyond The Wall, inspired by Game Of Thrones.
It will transport listeners “from the verdant landscapes of Northern Ireland to the glacial natural beauty of Iceland,” Now said.
Return To Home Turf is inspired by Premier League football while Discover The Magic Of Oxford is inspired by the fantasy series A Discovery Of Witches.
And Into The Secret Garden, inspired by The Secret Garden, will take listeners to “a magical world, where beloved rose bushes have been cultivated to produce the most beautiful flowers,” according to Now.
