How old is David Walliams’ son? The author confides in his relationship with his only child
On May 6, 2013, David Williams first became a father when his then-wife Lara Stone gave birth to their son, Alfred.
Since then, the 49-year-old comedian has kept eight-year-old Alfred out of the spotlight – the Britain’s Got Talent star and his ex-wife Lara even hiding their son’s face in all pictures of him shared on social media.
However, in recent months David has opened up more about fatherhood and his relationship with his son in multiple candid interviews.
Speaking on This Morning, the bestselling children’s author revealed the gentle way his only child helped him write his latest story.
Speaking with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to promote his latest literary outing, Mega Monster, David confessed that he owes part of his thanks to his eight-year-old son for his huge success in the world of children’s fiction.
“Yes, Alfred, he has a lot of brilliant ideas,” he replied to This Morning presenter Holly when she asked him about how Alfred contributes to his creativity.
“We often talk about things that we would love to read stories about and he said, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if there was a monster made up of all the different scary monsters in the world and it was called the Mega Monster, daddy? That should be the title of your next book! And I said, ‘Okay, yeah, that’s a great title.’ “
The Little Britain star then revealed more about her sweet bond with her son, saying: “When we go for a walk and do stuff with the dog, we often think about where the story might take place and he says : “Dad, you make it write, the hardest part! ‘”
Alfred may only be eight years old, but it seems the youngster already has some business acumen.
Not missing a tip, David revealed his son had a cheeky comment to make when he realized his contribution to his father’s work, saying, “But recently he said, ‘Can I have 50% of the Royalties ?””
He then revealed to presenter Phillip that he had told his son he would do it “someday but not yet.”
This isn’t the first time David has spoken about his home life with his eight-year-old offspring.
Talk to HELLO! and other posts at a virtual event earlier this year, the actor and author revealed his sweet post-containment plans with his son, Alfred.
“I told my son about it,” he said when asked what he was looking forward to doing once the coronavirus restrictions were lifted.
“We already have plans to go to Legoland, play mini golf, go to Go Ape and eat ice cream. It’s so much fun with my son!”
In the same interview, the father-of-one also joked that he had “enjoyed the extra time with my son” regarding home schooling during the pandemic.
Speaking about this experience over the past year, the star said: “I also have a job which means I write most of the time and I can do it at home on my own so I feel like I don’t have much to complain about! “
David shares his son Alfred with his ex-wife and model Lara Stone.
The former couple met in 2009, after the comedian posed the question to the 37-year-old Dutch model in Los Angeles just months after starting dating.
The couple married at Claridge’s Hotel in London in May 2010 and two years later, in December 2012, announced they were expecting their first child, Alfred, whom they welcomed on May 6, 2013.
After five years of marriage, the couple embarked on a separation lawsuit in March 2015, after having “separated” which led to their subsequent divorce in September of the same year.
