Greedy Williams celebrates the end of 6 months of physiotherapy
The Cleveland Browns intend to compete for an AFC North crown, an AFC championship and a Super Bowl title in 2021. The return of Greedy Williams, among others, could be a key part of the team achieving those goals.
Williams, the Browns second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, had a top-to-bottom rookie year under Steve Wilks. Wilks, known for more area and off-man coverage, was out after just a year with the rest of the Freddie Kitchens staff. Joe Woods has arrived, along with new head coach Kevin Stefanski, as the team’s defensive coordinator for the 2020 season.
The Browns listed Williams as the squad’s starter for much of training camp and even noted that Terrance Mitchell had replaced Williams in the starting lineup for the first games of 2020. Instead, Williams did not. hasn’t played in 2020 despite the constant hope that he will be able to.
Today comes this Instagram story (recorded for posting in this story) from Williams himself:
In the video, Williams tagged Megan Flavin. The private Instagram page notes that Flavin is a physiotherapist.
Denzel Ward is locked in one of the starting cornerback locations and Troy Hill is likely to lock the corner slot location, also a starting role. Williams will compete with this year’s Cleveland first-round pick, Greg Newsome II, for the other starting point.
With Woods favoring the use of three safeties, it will be interesting to know how many cornerbacks to linebackers are on the field at a time. In a passing league, Williams and Newsome are likely to get a lot of snaps this season, but Williams will have a lot to prove in his third season in the league. Being healthy, as this video shows, is a great place to start for him.
