Celtics fall far behind early, lose Tatum as Nets climb 2-0
The Brooklyn Nets overcame a patchy performance to defeat the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference playoffs during the weekend. Kevin Durant led all scorers with 32 points while Celtics star Jayson Tatum struggled through a 6 of 20 shooting performance in this game.
With Boston almost in fashion in Brooklyn for Thursday 2 Tuesday evening, things did not go well for Brad Stevens’ team.
The Brooklyn Nets opened up a 71-47 halftime lead and continued to do so before choosing to let their starters rest in the fourth quarter. After the last 12 minutes rolled around, Steve Nash’s team was up 27 points.
Durant was once again this one’s top scorer with 26 points while Joe Harris chipped in 25 points. This takes absolutely into account the big three of the Nets, Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. It’s also a scary thing for opposing Eastern Conference teams in the NBA playoffs.
As for the Celtics, they are now lost 2-0 in the series after a ho-hum 36-36 regular season. Further embarrassments like the one we saw on Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets could very well lead to Stevens being in the hot seat. Regardless, fans and members of the basketball community had their thoughts on the Nets’ resounding X-point victory over Boston.
