Amanda Holden annoyed as she insists she is a professional singer in awkward TV moment
Amanda Holden was annoyed on Saturday night when a BBC I Can See Your Voice contestant appeared to insult her singing skills.
The 50-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge was outraged when a contestant made the cheeky comment as he debated who was a good and a bad singer in the lip-syncing game show.
“If you want to be a professional singer…” he began.
But a furious Amanda stepped in to say, “I AM a professional singer!”
Comedian and fellow panelist Jimmy Carr jumped in Amanda’s defense, intervening with, “I’ll stop you there, she had a number one album last year.
“I’m just mentioning it because I don’t want her to mention it again!” he added brazenly.
Amanda replied: “Thanks, Jimmy!”
Viewers on Twitter immediately flocked to the social media site to post about the “cringe” interaction, with one writing: “This guy on #ICanSeeYourVoice goes to Amanda Holden” If you wanna be a professional singer ” !
Another added: “Amanda is a professional singer!”
Amanda’s album, Songs From My Heart, reached number one on the charts in October 2020, with proceeds going to NHS charities.
It included covers of songs including Over the Rainbow, I Dreamed a Dream and a duet of I Know Him So Well with Sheridan Smith.
Amanda admitted that she worried that she left him too late in life to become a singer.
She told Official Charts: “It was always a big childhood dream for me to be a singer on the charts.
“To be honest, I thought the opportunity had passed.
“This career moment of my life has been honestly the most exciting to date. Made all the more special because my husband and my children were also part of it, ”she explained.
The chart-topping album featured a heart-wrenching track from the Ghost musical called With You, a tribute to her stillborn son Theo.
Amanda tragically lost her son when she was seven months pregnant in 2011.
Speaking about the release of her album, she told the Mirror: “The last lines of this song are ‘You took my life with you, took my world with you’ and so it’s for Theo, our baby who is born asleep and for Chris who stayed strong when I collapsed. “
She said the song was Simon Cowell’s favorite song, adding to Hello Magazine: “It’s very emotional to sing this song, but I think you are only chosen for experiences like this if you are strong enough. to deal with it. And that changes you. “
